DIONYSUS CLUB

The primary purpose of the DIONYSUS CLUB is to provide young people with a pleasant and challenging experience in Theatre Arts. The elements of Theatre are taught through the exciting medium of performance, both on-stage and behind-the-scenes. The DIONYSUS CLUB at Northeast brings entertainment, emotions, and stories to life. There are acquaintances and good times to be had as well. With a combination of talent, enthusiasm, and positive participation, this group will thrive.

About Our Thespians (Troupe #2826)

The International Thespian Society (named in honor of Thespis, the first actor) provides services for high school students who are serious about their love for Theatre Arts. It gives students the opportunity for leadership and responsibilities. Thespian membership is granted for the performance of meritorious work in the Theatre Arts as determined by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).

Students can become members by earning points for their work. School troupes are responsible for conducting meetings, electing officers and class representatives, and providing services and training.

Northeast's Thespian Troupe was chartered on April 21,1966. EdTA has information regarding the International Thespian Society and the Educational Theatre Association.

Our Motto is:

"Act well your part. There all the honor lies."

The DIONYSUS CLUB

Who We Are

The DIONYSUS CLUB (named for the Greek God of the Theatre) is the extra-curricular (after school activity) club for Theatre Arts (Drama).  All students attending Northeast are eligible to participate, provided they maintain academic eligibility, 2.0 GPA in each subject, and are willing to put forth the time and effort required.

What We Do

At meetings, we discuss Club and Production business.  After the meetings, we have Theatre Arts sessions where students learn some fundamental acting through games and personal interaction, and technical acumen using hands-on training with tools and practical application.

On an almost daily basis, we have either rehearsals or technical crew and house crew work days for the current production.

Where We Go

We attend the Annual County Drama Festival in the Spring of each academic year where we associate with other area high schools in a common Theatre Arts setting of workshops and performances.  We also attend stage productions at other local high schools and community theatre houses.
